What this page covers
This explains what personal information this site collects, why, what is done with it, and how to have it removed. It is written to comply with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).
What is collected
Only what you type into a form:
- Your name, email address and mobile number.
- The suburb and timeframe you select, and any message you write.
- The figures you entered into a calculator, where you submit one — so that a reply can be useful rather than generic.
- Which page you were on and where you came from, for understanding what on this site is worth writing more of.
You can use every calculator on this site without entering a single personal detail. The figures you type into them are only sent anywhere if you choose to submit the form afterwards.
Analytics
This site uses Google Analytics to understand which pages are useful and which are not. It records pages viewed, roughly where in the world you are, and which of a small number of actions you took — using a calculator, submitting an enquiry, tapping the phone or WhatsApp button.
Where a figure is involved, only a broad band is recorded — for example “R2.5m to R4m” — never the exact amount you entered. Your property value is your business, and it is not sent to Google.
Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser to recognise a return visit. You can block them in your browser settings, or use Google’s opt-out add-on, and the site will work exactly as it does now.
Why it is collected, and the lawful basis
To respond to your enquiry. That is the basis on which your details are processed, and if you never tick the marketing box that is the only thing they are ever used for.
Section 69 of POPIA prohibits direct marketing by electronic means without prior consent. Marketing email is therefore only ever sent to people who have ticked the consent box on a form. That consent is recorded with a timestamp and the page it was given on. It is never assumed, never pre-ticked, and never inferred from an enquiry.
What is never done
- Your details are never sold, rented or shared with third parties for their marketing.
- No purchased or scraped mailing lists are used.
- You are not added to a mailing list because you asked a question.
Who else sees it
The site runs on Vercel and stores enquiries in a Supabase database hosted in the European Union. Email is sent through Resend. Anonymous usage statistics are processed by Google Analytics. Each of those providers processes the data only to deliver their service.
How long it is kept
Enquiries are kept while there is a live reason to — an active conversation, or a sale in progress — and then for as long as required by the record-keeping obligations that apply to property practitioners. You may ask for your record to be deleted at any time.
Your rights
- Ask what personal information is held about you.
- Have anything inaccurate corrected.
- Have your information deleted.
- Withdraw marketing consent at any time — every marketing email carries an unsubscribe link, and a reply asking to be removed works just as well.
- Complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa.
